It is 2026 in Europe, yet it is still unacceptable that a restaurant would seat a family with a 5year old child next to smoking guests.
I politely asked to be moved, explaining that we didnt want to have lunch in cigarette smoke. The response was: “Wherever you sit, people are smoking everywhere.”
This isnt a solution it is an admission of failure. The right of nonsmokers, especially families with young children, to enjoy a healthy and comfortable dining environment shoudnt be secondary.
In most parts of Europe today, it is standard practice that restaurants are smoke free indoors. Expecting guests to tolerate second-hand smoke while eating is simply not acceptable anymore.
Unfortunately, this experience was deeply disappointing.
