This is an amazing restaurant just steps from the Vatican. Great food with a large variety of options, and warm service are seen throughout the experience. There is plenty of seating for guests dining with or without reservations. Highly recommend!
I stayed in this neighborhood and found this local gem. The food was incredible. The best carbonara I had in Italy and the best pizza too. The decor was beautiful. The service was attentive and helpful but not overly so as is typical in Europe. This seems like a spot the locals eat at vs the tourist places in the city center. I went twice in my 3 days in Rome.
Staying nearby and shortlisted this place from 4. We visited late and it was quiet, so we weren’t sure, but it was getting too late to try elsewhere, so we stayed. And we are so glad we did. The best Pizza I’ve ever had (the Speciale with Mushroom with Truffle Sauce) and my wife had Gnocchi, again very good. I had a lovely bottled IPA and my wife had the best Hugo Spritz she’d had from our 4 nights in Rome. Service was efficient and friendly without being too overfamiliar, loved the framed family photos on the walls. And the toilets were easily the best and cleanest we’d experienced in Rome. Highly recommended!

I went there with my dad, lured by the amazing Google reviews and ChatGPT searching across platforms. But the experience was just the opposite. The vibe and ambiance was super bland, almost like a cafeteria. The service was not friendly and not very helpful. I could assume that this was something typical for Rome and Italy in general, but we had wonderful experience at other restaurants throughout the country. I did make a mistake of not asking in advance, but the 2 out of three Antipasti came battered and deep-fried. Something not reflected on the menu at all. Both appearance and taste of the antipasti was horrific. Like tempura in a cheap Chinese buffet. The main dish, beef tongue in tomato sauce was OK. Definitely there’s nothing even close to 4.8 stars. Not even 3 in my books.

Difendiamo con orgoglio il lavoro di Casa Sceppa, un luogo che da anni è sinonimo di qualità e accoglienza, e ci teniamo a rimettere i fatti al loro posto. 1. Atmosfera e Servizio Definire "scialba" l'atmosfera di Casa Sceppa è un insulto al gusto e alla ricerca che mettiamo in ogni dettaglio. Se per lei la sobrietà e l'eleganza di un ambiente conviviale richiamano una "mensa", forse ha confuso il minimalismo curato con la trascuratezza. Quanto alla presunta "scortesia" dello staff: i nostri ragazzi lavorano con una dedizione che ci viene riconosciuta costantemente. La professionalità non va confusa con il servilismo; accogliamo tutti con il calore tipico di chi ama questo mestiere, ma esigiamo altrettanto rispetto. 2. La questione del Fritto Qui arriviamo al punto più surreale: lamentarsi che un antipasto sia fritto senza aver letto la descrizione o, peggio, senza aver chiesto spiegazioni. Il nostro menù è chiaro e trasparente. Paragonare la nostra tecnica di frittura a un "buffet cinese di bassa lega" è tecnicamente falso e offensivo per la nostra brigata di cucina. Utilizziamo materie prime d'eccellenza e oli monitorati costantemente per garantire croccantezza e digeribilità. Se non apprezza il fritto all'italiana, è una sua preferenza soggettiva, non una colpa dello chef. 3. Le stelle Ci permetta di sorridere. Se la sua valutazione del locale è di "meno di 3 stelle", mentre la media globale di migliaia di persone (e degli algoritmi che lei stesso ha citato) è di 4,8, forse il problema non è il ristorante, ma il suo metro di giudizio decisamente fuori fuoco. Nota dello staff: Siamo felici che abbia trovato "esperienze meravigliose" altrove in Italia; ci auguriamo che continui a frequentare quei posti, così da lasciare spazio a Casa Sceppa a chi sa davvero distinguere la qualità da un pregiudizio infondato.
