Fantastic retreat - we spent a great long weekend here. Great food, great facilities, and very nice hosts. And so much to see and experience in the region - from hiking to shopping to relaxing….
Dear Alex, thank you so much for your review!! We look forward to seeing you again in Borgo soon!!!
I want to be fair before I get to what went wrong, because there are real strengths here. The rooms at Borgo Capietaglio are genuinely beautiful, finished with care, and you can see attention in the details. The food at dinner was excellent. Breakfast, on the items that were included, was also tasty. The spa was another highlight, well organised, with proper privacy, and a relaxing experience from start to finish. None of that is in dispute.|The young woman at reception was outstanding. She welcomed us properly, walked us through the property, showed us to the room, and when she realised there was no spa booking for the evening of our arrival, she offered us late checkout and a spa slot the next morning instead. That is what hospitality is supposed to look like. She set a standard that almost nobody else in the building lived up to.|Because everything after that fell apart.|I stayed on the night of 16 May 2026. Outside it was 11°C. The room was cold. When I asked for heating, I was told it was not possible because Italian law does not allow central heating to be on this late in the season. I know the regulation. Pontida sits in Climate Zone E under DPR 74/2013 and central systems shut down by 15 April. That is true. It does not excuse the response. A serious resort in the Bergamo foothills, where May nights regularly fall into single digits, keeps portable electric heaters at reception or installs reverse-cycle units that can produce heat outside the regulated season. Borgo Capietaglio does neither. The solution offered to a paying guest was a duvet, brought to the room, to wrap around my body and walk around in. From a property that calls itself a wine resort. That is not hospitality. That is surrender.|Now the rest of the staff. One member of the team did not speak English at all, which on its own is awkward but manageable. The bigger problem is attitude. The person who brought up the duvet, and the woman serving breakfast, were both visibly cold. No smile, no warmth, no sense that you were a welcome guest. The contrast with the reception colleague was painful, because it showed that the standard exists inside this building. It just is not enforced.|On breakfast, the items included on the menu were limited but well prepared. What I did not expect was to find additional items available only with an extra charge on top of a room rate that already prices itself as a resort. That is a choice the property is entitled to make, but it sets a tone, and the tone is not generous.|The summary is uncomfortable because the bones of this place are good. Rooms, food, setting, the spa, the woman at reception, all there. What is missing is the part you cannot fake and cannot fix overnight: a team that consistently wants you there, and a management that thinks one step ahead of the weather and the guest's basic comfort.|Three stars. The reception colleague and the spa deserved five. The rest of the experience pulled the average down.

Dear Konstantinos, First of all, we would like to sincerely thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed, thoughtful, and honest review. Such insightful feedback is invaluable to us. We are truly delighted to read that you enjoyed so many aspects of your stay: the rooms, the dinner, the breakfast, the spa experience, and especially the welcome you received from our receptionist. We are particularly proud that her dedication and attentiveness made such a great impression on you. At the same time, we are equally grateful for your detailed description of the aspects of your experience that did not meet your expectations. Your comments about the room comfort, the temperature management, the overall service experience, and the inconsistent approach to hospitality by different team members provide us with important insights and opportunities for improvement. You also gave us some practical suggestions that we will certainly implement soon, such as providing portable heaters that could help improve the perceived comfort in the rooms, especially during those occasional cold spring or summer evenings. Borgo Capietaglio is a young project in the hospitality industry, born from a great passion and a strong determination to create memorable experiences for our guests. For this reason, we sincerely appreciate every suggestion and constructive criticism we receive. They help us understand where to focus our efforts and how we can continue to grow. We firmly believe that hospitality is measured not only by the quality of the facilities and services offered, but above all by the ability to make every guest feel welcome, comfortable, and genuinely pampered during their stay. Your comments, therefore, will not go unnoticed. We sincerely hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future. It will be a pleasure for us to show you the improvements we have made, also thanks to the valuable feedback you have provided. With gratitude, The Borgo Capietaglio Team
