We did not start with an idea. We started with restaurants.
Before PlateOut came Plateform: since 2021, its platform has helped thousands of Italian restaurants manage bookings and stay in touch with their guests.
Working alongside restaurateurs every day, we saw venues paying intermediaries a commission even for guests who already knew them. At the same time, people looking for somewhere new had to navigate scattered listings, conflicting reviews and unclear information. That is where PlateOut began.
What we do
We connect people looking for somewhere to eat with the people who run those places, without anyone in the middle taking a cut.
- PlateOut lists Italian restaurants, not only those that work with us.
- Search by city, venue type or on the map.
- Where available, book directly: the booking goes to the restaurant, not to us.
- Otherwise, find the telephone number and call the restaurant.
- There is nothing to pay and no account to create.
What we do not do
- We take no booking commissions, from either you or the restaurant.
- We do not rank venues or tell you which is best. We provide information; you choose.
- We do not push discounts or offers. A restaurant's value is about more than a discount.
Who is behind it
PlateOut is made by the Plateform team: more than thirty people in development, support, marketing and restaurant relations. We are not food critics and do not intend to become them. We come from day-to-day work in restaurants, so we know both a busy Saturday service and the feeling of looking for a table at 7 p.m. with no idea where to go.
Our mission
We want finding a restaurant in Italy to stop being a paid shop window: people should find the right place for that evening, venues should receive the booking, and guest data should remain theirs. It will take time, but that is our direction.
Do you run a restaurant?
Your PlateOut listing is free and stays free whether you work with us or not. You can ask us to correct or update it whenever you need. If you want direct, commission-free bookings while keeping your guest data, that is what Plateform does.
